Investors’ Protection Law: $1Bn Potential for 3 Months

Following the adoption of Law on ‘investment nannies’, for the three months passed the special governmental office UkraineInvest has received 15 requests from potential investors on the total amount of more than 1Bn USD, as reported by the governmental web portal referring to the round table Law on Investment Nannies: projects for the first billion.

It is pointed out that since the Law’s entry into force UkraineInvest “has observed significant interest by foreign and national businesses”.

“Merely for the three months of work UkraineInvest has already produced 15 applications amounting in total to over $1Bn of investments”, stressed the office’s CEO.

The Law “On State Support of Investment Projects with Significant Investments” envisages in particular exemption from taxes and dues, state budget assistance and facilitation of land plots assignment procedures.

Investors’ Protection Law: $1Bn Potential for 3 Months

While investing more than €20M and creating 80+ jobs, the funds providers will be entitled to receive state support up to 30% of the investments laid down. Now Ministry of Economy works upon implementation of the Law and related rules and procedures. In particular, there is a draft procedure of cooperation with investors, public authorities, and local municipalities already developed jointly with UkraineInvest.

Moreover, some related regulatory instruments are worked upon now in Verkhovna Rada (the parliament).

E&P Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oksana Markarova also underlined the importance of expanding collaboration with the US as a strategic partner in many fields from politics and security to business.

Let’s remind you that President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law having been initiated by himself, which in particular envisages that the equipment and fitting/gear imported into Ukraine for the purpose of investment projects realisation shall be exempted from customs dues till 01 January 2035.
